![]() Chloe has been possessed by an alien and once she figures out that the Doctor has figured out a way to save her, she traps him and his TARDIS in one of her drawings. We find out that Chloe is the reason behind the disappearances, as everyone she draws seems to disappear. The kids on her block are also disappearing under strange circumstances inevitably The Doctor and Rose decide to investigate. Unfortunately, the kids on her block are afraid of her. The story centers around a little girl, Chloe, who desperately wants someone to play with. “Fear Her” is set in London 2012, the day of the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics (which were actually held in London). This was the episode following “Love & Monsters” and while it is equally terrible, the reason it does not claim the top spot is because there are some cute moments between The Doctor and Rose. It is almost laughable to think back to this episode (this entire season really) and to see how far Doctor Who has come. Elton then tells us that he and Ursula have an unconventional relationship and even a love life (get it guys, he sticks his penis in a stone, ha ha, no.) The Doctor was able to keep Ursula’s alive as a face in a paving stone. With the cane broken Victor dissolves into the earth along with all of the people he’s absorbed. Elton manages to break the monsters cane, which is actually a field generator that kept Victor in control of his body. During the chase the TARDIS appears so that Rose can tell Elton off for bothering her mother. Victor absorbs Ursula, however, Elton is able to get away in one of the cheesiest chase scenes ever filmed ever. Victor has the faces of the missing group members sticking out from his stomach (CGI did it’s best but could not do enough). After one meeting Elton and Ursula, another member of the group who flirts with Elton, discover that Victor is an Abzorbaloff (as in he absorbs beings into his body making them apart of himself. ![]() Members of the group stop coming to meetings and Victor explains that they’ve left the group and moved on with their lives. Elton is supposed to get close to Rose’s mother Jackie but does a terrible job and is kicked out of Jackie’s apartment after she finds a picture of Rose in his possession. One day a stranger, Victor Kennedy, interrupts the meeting telling the group they have lost focus and taking over. He subsequently forms a group with others who have had run-ins with The Doctor. ![]() This episode is told through the video diary of Elton Pope, a fan of the Doctor who ends up having a chance encounter with him. Well, maybe we can blame them for having the contest in the first place? What we can definitely blame the writers for however is ending the episode with the most tasteless and unfunny of blowjob jokes. Although, the monster was created by a 9 year old who won in a children’s competition to design a Doctor Who monster so it’s hard to blame the writers for that particular choice. The story is lacking and the monster is a big let down. ![]() However, unlike “Blink,” another episode without much of the Doctor, this episode is pretty terrible on all fronts. “Love and Monsters” was the first New Who episode to not prominently feature the Doctor. If you have ever seen this episode then its inclusion at the top of this list is pretty self-explanatory. ![]() “Love and Monsters” – Series 2, Episode 10 If we had to deal with these episodes, so do you! If you’re a seasoned fan embarking on a rewatch here are my suggestions of the episodes that are not worthy of your time. If you’re new to the Doctor you don’t get to skip. In fact, the deeper you journey into the fandom you’ll start to see that there are some episodes even the biggest Whovians like to pretend never existed at all. However, there are some episodes that just don’t deserve a rewatch. As the series moves along it is almost impossible to not want to look back at how the Doctor got to where he is now. Regardless though, you’re going to rewatch. My favorite aspect of Doctor Who is how good it holds up among rewatches and the different ways you can rewatch the show you can watch in order, you can watch in order from River Song’s POV, you can watch your favorite villains or monsters, you can watch in order of funniest or favorite episodes. This got me thinking about the episodes you would skip on your subsequent rewatch of the show. A few weeks ago Bayana wrote about some of the essential episodes to watch if you’re new to Doctor Who. ![]() ![]() ![]() In July, Newsom signed a law that allows prosecutors to charge those who work with others to steal merchandise. ![]() He said the California Highway Patrol immediately stepped up patrols along nearby highway corridors following the thefts this weekend and asked local officials how they could help. “You will see substantially more starting today, in and around areas that are highly trafficked and coming into the holiday season Black Friday in shopping malls,” he told reporters Monday at an event in San Francisco. Gavin Newsom said his office met with retailers over the weekend who asked for more police patrols. It looks very chaotic but it’s actually very well organized,” Dugan said. “Crew bosses organize them, they’ll give him the crowbars, and in some cases even rent them cars, or provide them with escape routes or a list of products to actually go out and steal. Those who do the stealing get paid between $500 and $1,000 to take as much as they can and bring it back to organizers who ship it to other parts of the country. The flash mobs are usually organized by local people who recruit their crews and send them to steal specific merchandise requested by criminal organizations throughout the country, Dugan said. Videos of the chaotic scene posted on social media by witnesses showed police officers dragging one suspect from a waiting car and people running with merchandise in their arms or dragging suitcases. The weekend robberies started in San Francisco Friday around 8 p.m., when packs of people broke into stores including Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Bloomingdale’s in the downtown area and in Union Square, a posh shopping district popular with tourists that was teeming with holiday shoppers. ![]() These are people who go out and do this is for high profit, and for the thrill,” said Ben Dugan, president of the Coalition of Law Enforcement and Retail. “We’re not talking about someone who needs money or needs food. The thefts are ratcheting up as the holiday shopping season gets underway, experts and officials said. The thefts are believed to be part of sophisticated criminal networks that recruit mainly young people to steal merchandise in stores throughout the country then sell it in online marketplaces. Groups of thieves, some carrying crowbars and hammers, smashed glass cases and window displays and ransacked high-end stores throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, stealing jewelry, sunglasses, suitcases and other merchandise before fleeing in waiting cars during a weekend of brazen organized theft that shocked holiday shoppers and prompted concerns about the busy retail season. ![]() ![]() Given the original version on PCs is a simple mouse-driven point-and-click affair, you'd think the developers would take advantage of the Remote's IR pointer as the natural analogue for the same kind of input, but sadly that's not the case. Whilst online will be the main temptation for fans of the original game, they might be in for a rude shock thanks to some rather lacklustre controls. ![]() We weren't able to get into any online matches, however there's no lobby area evident and we expect that use of friend codes and offline match arranging will be needed to participate in team play via Wi-Fi Connect, as seems to be the case with many online Wii games. There are local options for co-op or versus play with full access to all the restaurants (no need to have previously unlocked them in Story Mode) with players competing to either reach a set earnings target or be the one with the most money at the end of the shift. Some of the upgrades have better versions available which are exclusive to Endless Mode, such as better cookers to speed up food preparation or improved stereo systems to make diners a little less impatient, but you'll also have access to all the upgrades from Story Mode like extra tables and drinks stations.Ī bonus for the console version of Diner Dash is the inclusion of multiplayer modes you can play locally against a friend or online with up to six other players (four teams of two at four different Wiis). ![]() Every time an upgrade is available you'll see a flashing bar at the top of the screen and pressing the Plus button will present a choice of three to put into play. Upgrades are made available to you as you reach earnings targets. In the upper stages multipliers are essential to meeting the increasing daily targets especially if you're unable to juggle the various tasks effectively and people start walking away.Įndless Mode is essentially the same as Story Mode, only you choose one of the restaurants unlocked in Story Mode and stay there the entire time. The owner/proprietor can only carry two things at once and less satisfied customers can tip less, so you'll sometimes have to make a choice between a lower tip and a bonus multiplier or worse, risk someone leaving the premises altogether. Ideally you'll want to be taking all orders, bringing food and collecting cash from each table at the same time. You get bonuses for performing similar tasks, so there's a decent amount of strategy in seating your customers as they all order and eat at different speeds. There are still more upgrades that appear later in the game adding further complexity or giving you more tools to satisfy your growing trade. ![]() Extra tables means fewer customers wait to be seated, drinks are made available to make the impatient a little less grumpy and a podium where you can chat up the waiting would-be diners adds that human touch to mollify people who continue to queue up to chow down on your wares. Thankfully there's help in the form of restaurant upgrades which are introduced at every new stage thanks to re-investing your earnings to expand your trade. If they completely lose their rags they'll leave and with a finite number of diners passing through your doors on each day you can't afford to let that happen too often after a few failed attempts to bring home the bacon your game is over. If you don't get any stage of their dining experience completed in a timely fashion they can get rather annoyed, losing a heart from the metre above their heads. Sounds pretty simple, but it actually gets challenging pretty quickly and is complicated by the fact that you have a diverse clientele with varying levels of patience and generosity.ĭiner Dash isn't shy of stereotypes when it comes to the kinds of customers you'll have passing through your doors: seniors are more patient, but tip less business people are bigger tippers, but always in a hurry young people fall in-between and there's also the odd restaurant critic coming in to give you a boost if you treat them right. Customers come in, you seat them, they order, you take their tickets to the kitchen, the chef cooks up the food, you take the food to the tables, customers eat, settle up and you clear the plates in an effort to meet the target takings for the day. Each restaurant starts out slow with a few small tables seating either two or four patrons. ![]() ![]() ![]() The fact that the comics were a private initiative, and had sales ranging between one million at their peak in 1981 to 28,000 at their lowest point in 1992, when the print industry underwent a general slump, did very little to diminish their aura as a disinterested service. The subsequent production of ACK s under an educational trust, with its implicit subsidies and benevolent intentions, did help to shape the comics as separate from the western comic mode. ![]() The pedagogical force of the comics was then undeniably in tension with this need to grapple with the form of the comic itself, how to insert the educational message and remove all unsavoury associations with the market without diminishing the sensationalist plot. In addition to the task of indigenizing the content, making them safe and sanitized as it were, the makers of ACK were also burdened by the comic imperative of keeping the sensationalism intact. UNESCO’s call in 1967 to use comics as a tool for communicating cultural values provided the much needed thrust to Pai to start his indigenous intervention.
